More about the artist

Ellen Andersson has been described as two voices in one: the young, curious one and the older, experienced one – a vocalist with a rare artistic depth. With her captivating and personal sound, she has established herself as one of the most prominent voices on the Swedish jazz scene today. Ellen offers an enchanting concert experience with a high degree of musical integrity, playfulness, and personality.

With a Grammy nomination and a Monica Zetterlund Award in her repertoire, Ellen now presents her third album, Impressions of Evans, a vibrant, dynamic, and heartfelt tribute to the legendary pianist Bill Evans and his collaboration with Monica Zetterlund. Just like the encounter between these two giants, the upcoming album is marked by a meeting of two sounds from opposite sides of the Atlantic. Swedish lyrics meet American tones, English lyrics meet the mist over the Öresund, and 5th Avenue intertwines with the forests of Värmland.

With a distinctive voice and unmistakable expression, she has been praised by both critics and audiences alike in Sweden and abroad since her 2016 debut, I’ll Be Seeing You. She was awarded both the Golden Record by Orkesterjournalen and the Jazzkatten as "Newcomer of the Year" by Sveriges Radio P2. Her follow-up, You Should Have Told Me, was released in the midst of the pandemic and received rave reviews and a dedicated audience across the Nordic countries. “I am astonished and thrilled. One of the best Swedish jazz albums I’ve heard,” wrote Johan Norberg in Tidningen Vi, while Jan Gradvall in DI Weekend stated that “as long as there are artists like Ellen Andersson, Swedish jazz will manage the next generational shift.”

The Danish jazz audience welcomed her with open arms early on, and this autumn, she lets Swedish concert audiences meet her again, accompanied by some of the very best jazz musicians in the Nordic region.

On stage:
Ellen Andersson – vocals
