More about the artist

An international jazz quartet of world-class caliber! The Walt Weiskopf European Quartet, led by American saxophonist and composer Walt Weiskopf, brings together some of Denmark’s most talented jazz musicians in a modern interpretation of Coltrane-inspired post-bop. The ensemble is currently celebrating the release of a new album, Harmless Addiction, recorded in Berlin in the spring of 2023.

Walt Weiskopf made his breakthrough as a 20-year-old in the early '80s with the Buddy Rich Big Band. Since then, he has performed with legends such as Frank Sinatra, Donald Fagen, and Michael McDonald, among others. He has collaborated with Brad Mehldau, John Patitucci, and Renee Rosnes, and since 2003, he has toured annually with the legendary Steely Dan Band.

“Weiskopf uses just the right elements from the very best role models to inform his style, meshing the kinetic modulations of John Coltrane with the lyrical imagination and tonal daredevilry of Sonny Rollins.” – JazzTimes

The rhythm section consists of three highly esteemed and cohesive Danish musicians, each with an impressive career on the international jazz scene.

On stage:
Walt Weiskopf – tenor saxophone
Carl Winther – piano
Andreas Lang – bass
Anders Mogensen – drums
