Behind de clair is singer-songwriter Clara Rudelius, whose voice carries the music forward with a rare presence. She moves effortlessly between the fragile and the powerful, in a restrained yet striking expression. Drawing on influences from indie, alternative pop, and folk, we encounter a voice that feels intimate and vulnerable, with lyrics that explore the world’s injustices, friendship, memories, and love. Her debut, hiding mountains in the palm of my hand (2024), was awarded the Manifest Gala’s Newcomer of the Year prize and received widespread acclaim. She now returns with new music.
Clara Rudelius, from Karlshamn, picked up the guitar for the first time at just ten years old. She soon gravitated toward the black, untuned upright piano in her living room. Immersing herself in the music of Nico, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Björk, these artists became some of her primary inspirations as she began writing and producing her own songs.
de clair made her debut in November 2023 with the single “sleep with me on my birthday,” a track where delicate minimalism meets de clair’s astonishing vocals. Since then, she has performed as a support act for both Waterbaby and Augustine, been featured in multiple global playlists on Spotify and Apple Music, and received international attention from outlets including Clash Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, COLORSSTUDIOS*, and Lablogotheque.
