Johanna Linnea Jakobsson is a Danish-Swedish vocalist, saxophonist and songwriter, born and raised in Copenhagen and now based in southern Sweden. With her second album Don’t Overthink It, she moves further into a fully formed artistic voice, focusing entirely on original compositions where lyrical honesty and immediacy are at the forefront.
She first emerged on the Scandinavian jazz scene with her debut album Alone Together (2022), which combined original material with personal interpretations of repertoire by, among others, Duke Ellington and Lennon/McCartney. The album received critical acclaim across Europe and was named one of the best vocal albums of the year by the Japanese magazine Jazz Hihyo. She has since released an EP of jazz standards and composed and recorded the soundtrack for the Emmy Award-winning series One of The Boys, in collaboration with drummer and producer John Fernold, who also produced Don’t Overthink It.
The album title carries a deliberate duality — a desire to let go, while many of the songs revolve around feelings of uncertainty, self-doubt and vulnerability. The result is a collection that balances intimacy and freedom, where nuanced storytelling meets a strong sense of musical spontaneity and interplay.
On stage:
Johanna Linnea Jakobsson – vocals, saxophone
Olof Wullt – electric guitar
Jesse Emmoth – piano, Rhodes
Simon Petersson – double bass
John Fernold – guitar, drums
