A unique meeting between three of Europe's most distinguished jazz musicians. This evening, we are treated to the Swedish bassist Lars Danielsson, a virtuoso renowned for blending the freedom of jazz with the rich sounds of classical and folk music. Joining him is the British guitarist John Parricelli, whose expressive and versatile playing has created musical magic in countless settings; and the internationally acclaimed Finnish trumpeter Verneri Pohjola, celebrated for his warm tone and innovative melodies. Together, they offer a performance that weaves intimacy, beauty, and playful improvisation, drawing influences from jazz, folk, and classical traditions. A serene yet powerful journey where the chemistry between the musicians takes center stage.

The record label ACT releases select albums as part of a curated series, where the label plays an active role in shaping the lineup. This album is part of such a series. Titled Edition Palmer II, it was recorded in the elegant, wood-paneled hall of Château Palmer, a historic château in Bordeaux’s wine region.

With the peaceful ambiance of Château Palmer as both a recording venue and inspiration, the music emerges with remarkable presence and spontaneity. The trio seamlessly navigates between newly composed pieces and carefully chosen interpretations, where jazz meets European folk and classical music, forming a timeless and atmospheric sound. Here, both subtle poetry and open improvisation coexist—music that breathes and thrives in the present moment.

Lars Danielsson has long been celebrated as one of Europe’s leading jazz musicians and composers, renowned for his lyrical and melodic bass playing. Alongside him are John Parricelli, one of the most versatile and expressive guitarists on the European jazz scene, and Verneri Pohjola, a Finnish trumpeter who stands as one of the most original and sought-after voices of his generation. Together, they create music that is simultaneously grounded and transcendent.

The concert offers a delicate balance between acoustic and electric tones, with the soft, muted sound of the trumpet interwoven with open, free-flowing improvisations. It is a musical journey that reflects the stillness and craftsmanship of the Bordeaux recording sessions—a tribute to the space, the music, and the chemistry between the musicians.

Join us for a truly unique evening where silence and beauty speak for themselves, and every note carries with it both simplicity and profound depth.
