This Israeli trio draws inspiration from a wide range of genres and refuses to be confined by traditional definitions. Listening as much to Brahms as to Nirvana and The Bad Plus, they create music that is at once bold, acoustic and forward-thinking.
The trio was formed in 2014 by childhood friends Gadi Stern and Matan Assayag, with roots in Jerusalem and experience from, among other places, the New York jazz scene. In 2016, double bassist David Michaeli joined the group, and together they have developed a tight, intuitive interplay where the music is shaped collectively, without a clear leader. Since their debut The Bell Garden, they have released several acclaimed albums and established themselves internationally through extensive touring at some of the world’s most prestigious stages and festivals.
With their latest album What We Are Made Of, Shalosh delve deeper into their own musical DNA—a blend of original compositions and personal interpretations ranging from raw groove to quiet introspection. On stage, their music transforms into a living, unpredictable whole, carried by three musicians performing with rare presence, intensity and cohesion.
On stage:
