Symbio performs cinematic folk music where Nordic tradition meets electronic rhythms and a powerful, almost symphonic sound, where heartfelt melodies and hypnotic beats evoke life-affirming themes. Hurdy-gurdy and accordion are woven together with beats, dreamlike soundscapes and melodies that move between quiet reflection and pulsating energy. Now celebrating 15 years together, they come to Malmö to present music from their new album.
The duo consists of Johannes Geworkian Hellman and LarsEmil Öjeberget. Through their tight interplay and a sound that far exceeds what two musicians might suggest, they have established themselves as one of the most noted names on the Nordic folk and world music scene. They have toured in more than 20 countries across Europe and North America and performed on stages and festivals around the world, including as an official showcase artist at WOMEX.
Their third album Endeavour was awarded Album of the Year at the Swedish Folk & World Music Awards (Folk & Världsmusikgalan) in 2023 – and now the follow-up is being released.
