Since creating his first band in 2005, Copenhagen-born London based bassist Jasper Høiby has gained recognition for his fresh and dynamic approach to jazz, blending intricate compositions with spontaneous improvisation.
With Høiby's bass playing at the forefront, he has released a string of highly acclaimed albums and toured extensively around the globe, captivating audiences with his various groups which include Phronesis, Fellow Creatures and Planet B.
His music transcends genres, combining elements of contemporary jazz and European folky influences with cutting edge improvisation. Since 2010, Jasper Høiby has emerged as a pivotal artist within Edition Records, choosing the label as the exclusive home for all his musical releases.
His collaborations span across a spectrum of the jazz scene's luminaries including Tigran Hamasyan, Jason Lindner, Jeff Ballard, Shai Maestro, Mark Guiliana, Verneri Pohjola, Marius Neset, Django Bates, Sun Mi Hong, Miquel Zenón, Louis Cole, Makaya McCraven, Ben Lamar Gay, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Kit Downes.
He has appeared at jazz clubs, concert halls and festivals across the world and in 2012 won the Copenhagen Jazz Festival's 'Young Spirit Award' alongside honorary award winners Jack DeJohnette and Palle Mikkelborg.
