As a result of the pandemic situation that prevails with the spread of the new coronavirus and the covid-19 disease, the Victoria theater is facing an uncertain future. Culture is an industry that, even before the spread of the virus, has been characterized by small financial margins and low incomes. We currently don't know what this situation will mean for our business or how long it will last, but something that is quite certain is that it will not be easy, neither for society at large nor for us as a culture scene and culture workers; with everything it entails with the loss of ticket revenue, reduced audience numbers and personal losses.
We will do everything we can to get through this difficult time, but we need your help. Firstly, we appeal to you who purchased a ticket to one of the concerts that have been canceled, that if you have the possibility, not to claim back the money for the tickets or consider making a donation to us via Swish: 123 374 91 73. Redan som treåring var Chris var på sin första BB King-konsert, bluesmusik spelades kontinuerligt på stereoanläggningen hemma och familjeutflykterna var ofta resor till blueskonserter...
”Jag minns att pappa alltid hade Muddy Waters på hög volym i Bergsprängaren när han klippte gräset. När jag tänker tillbaka på den tiden så var det faktiskt ganska coolt. Det var alltid musik som spelades i vårt hus, Ray Charles, BB King, Freddie King, Albert King..”, berättar Chris.

Vid åtta års ålder lärde sig Chris att spela gitarr och spelade professionellt redan innan han fyllt 18 år. Chris studerade musik på San Jose City Collage och undervisade sedan själv jazzimprovisation vid flera musikskolor. Han har släppt inte mindre än 12 album, det första 1987, för vilket han fick fyra Blues Music Award nomineringar, inklusive årets gitarrist. Han signerade med Blind Pig Records 1990 och har sedan dess genomfört en stor mängd hyllade skivsläpp, konserter och samarbeten. 2018 nominerades han bland annat för Blues Music Awards Guitarist of the Year, Blues Blast Awards Best Males Blues Artist och Best Contemporary Blues Album för 2017-albumet, Chris Cain.
Göteborgs stoltheter Mr Bo och hans Voodooers har mejslat fram ett alldeles eget uttryck – själfulla med ett ”rootsy sound” på en bluesig botten. Bandet är på releaseturné för nya albumet Going up North som spelats in och ges ut av Pama Records.
