Makross - Absolut Makross

The Malmö-based quartet Makross has been touring widely for over ten years to spread their jazz gospel, and with the release of their fifth album "Absolut Makross," they show no signs of slowing down – quite the opposite! Their music intertwines American and Nordic jazz traditions into something groovy, melodic, and fun, while also allowing space for reflection and a touch of melancholy in a Swedish style. This is live music that is best experienced in the company of good friends, with something tasty in your glass and perhaps a few cheers when energy is at its peak!

Makross is not just a jazz quartet; it is a collection of musicians who collectively shape their music with curiosity and a deep love for the art form. The band members – Andreas Henningsson on double bass, Kristoffer Rostedt on drums, Rasmus Nyvall on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet, and Jens Persson on alto saxophone – create a lively and melodic sound. The instrumentation without chordal instruments gives Makross a distinctive sound and allows for a freer approach, encouraging spontaneous creativity.

Critics have praised Makross for their ability to blend American jazz elements with Swedish nuances, resulting in a personal and independent style that truly stands out on the jazz scene. Makross has toured around Europe since 2011, released four albums, and collaborated with some of the most prominent jazz musicians in the Nordic region.
