More about the artist

Stinnerbom Stinnerbom Dubé consists of Värmland’s Sophia Stinnerbom on violins and Magnus Stinnerbom on guitars, together with Canadian double bassist Sébastien Dubé. This brilliant trio, with many years of collaboration and roots in folk music, combines an openness to the unexpected and playful elements that captivate the audience. This evening, they are joined by Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger, two legends from the American folk music scene, renowned for their contributions to old-time and bluegrass music. Their music embodies not only a primal force, a driving energy, and a powerful groove but also great sensitivity, combined with distinct folk musical foundations.

In the concert series Västanå Sessions, the trio was joined by Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger. This cherished collaboration resulted in the formation of this newly established band, now touring in Sweden and Norway.

Sophia Stinnerbom is a folk musician from Värmland who has been active since the 1990s. After studying at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, she debuted as a theater musician at Västanå Teater. In addition to being a musician and conductor at Västanå Musik och Teater, she also plays in Västanå Orchestra and has previously been involved with groups like Outhouse Allstars and Klacklek. She has toured with prominent musicians such as Mats Berglund and Harald Haugaard.

Magnus Stinnerbom is a prominent composer and musician with extensive experience as the music director at Västanå Teater. He has played in groups such as Harv and Ale Möller Band and has composed music for various theater productions and films. His music has been heard on stages like Stockholm City Theatre and Det Norske Teatret, and he has collaborated with artists like Louise Hoffsten and Marie Bergman.

Sébastien Dubé has been the principal and soloist with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra since 2000. He has also participated in folk music projects such as Ale Möller Band and Näsbom & Dubé, and has performed with symphony orchestras in both North America and Europe. In addition to his work in orchestras, he teaches at the Ingesund School of Music and the School of Music in Örebro.

Bruce Molsky, from the Bronx, New York, is a versatile musician and one of the greatest in the USA. He is not only one of the world’s leading fiddlers and banjo players in the Appalachian old-time tradition but also a brilliant guitarist and blues singer. Bruce has a unique ability to transport the audience to another time and place with his personal and traditional expression.

Darol Anger is a master fiddler from the West Coast of North America, known for bridging musical boundaries and merging genres and styles into a higher dimension, combining both depth and dazzling virtuosity.

Picnic theater

This is a picnic event, or as we like to call is: Picnic theater. That means that you may bring your own food and drinks to the event.

It doesn’t matter what you bring – take-away pizza at one table is followed by oysters and caviar at the next. Bring what you feel like, and don't forget to bring glasses and cuttlery!

Please note that you may not bring food if you have tickets for the balcony, only drinks and snacks.
