More about the artist

Hederosgruppen is often labeled as jazz, but the band itself probably just thinks about making fun music. According to Dagens Nyheter, their music is "both comprehensive and accessible. Layer upon layer of the members' listening habits are present: rolling boogiewoogie, free improvisation, quirky bebop, bold funk, hints of African influences, and a lot of other things that are impossible to fully dissect. They always return to a distinct and singable melody."

The band was formed in 2018 when pianist Martin Hederos, a key figure in Swedish music known for his versatility and genre-crossing collaborations, gathered old and new friends—some of the country's most renowned musicians—and invited them into a collective process. All five musicians contribute to the songwriting. The result is an eclectic mix of genres, from hymns and folk pop to Ethiopian rhythms and bebop.

Since their inception, Hederosgruppen has toured Sweden, appeared on Swedish national television (SVT), and released two acclaimed albums: Storstrejk (2020), which was nominated for a Swedish Grammy (Grammis), and Ståplats (2022), which won a Grammis, the Manifest Prize, and OJ's Gyllene Skivan—the first album ever to win all three awards! The music is characterized by a restless creativity and a constant pursuit to make every concert unique and electric.
